Roxborough Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The population was 9,099 at the 2010 census, up from 4,446 at the 2000 census.
Geography
It sits at the foot of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Dakota Hogback, a prominent sandstone ridge, runs north-south through the community. The CDP is bordered to the west by Pike National Forest, and Roxborough State Park, known for its dramatic sandstone formations, is on the southern edge of the community. Downtown Denver is 25 miles (40 km) to the northeast.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 9.3 square miles (24.2 km²), of which 9.2 square miles (23.9 km²) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²), or 1.35%, is water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 4,446 people, 1,587 households, and 1,328 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 457.9 people per square mile (176.8/km²). There were 1,637 housing units at an average density of 168.6 per square mile (65.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.88% White, 0.47% African American, 0.47% Native American, 1.42% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 1.71% from other races, and 1.96% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.58% of the population.
There were 1,587 households out of which 43.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.1% were married couples living together, 4.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.3% were non-families. 10.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 0.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.03.
